Los Angeles California Snake Situation: How to get rid of a snake in the house - Just like any nuisance animal, you need to find out how the snake got into your home. Snakes can come in through open doors and windows, and if that is the case, chances are this will not be a repeat event. Snakes that come in through cracks in the foundation or through damaged areas of the building can become a pest. These serpents will not damage your home further, but no one likes to walk into the basement and see a coiled snake on the floor. If the snake has entered because it is living in a foundation crack, you need to make sure that crack is repaired. Failure to do this will result in more snakes finding their way inside. To get rid of a snake in the house, try to confine the animal to one room. Make sure you block off any areas that may serve to hide the animal. Appliances and furniture gaps need to be barricaded. You do not want to be faced with the dilemma of fishing a snake out from under something. Not only could this result in a bite from the serpent, undue harm may be caused in pulling the animal out. The easiest way to handle a nonvenomous snake is to toss some linen over the body and scoop the bundle into a pillow case. The snake can then be put outside or relocated to a safe area.
Hello, I just wanted to say thank you for providing information on how to remove a snake from a glue board. I came home to find a garden snake stuck in a glue board in our garage. I was upset because I couldn't pull him off. So I came across your blog and found out I could pour vegetable oil on it and he would free himself. It worked and the snake is now free. I just hope it doesn't decide to come into my house. :) Have a great day. D'Arcy in Los Angeles
I was just viewing your site and noticed you do snake/reptile removals. If you are legally allowed to and it wouldn't be too much of a hassle I would be interested in giving your wild caught reptiles a home and a new take at life. I have 12 years experience, I am a member of the Central Valley Herpatological Society, and all necessary enclosures and climate control systems to safely and professionally house these animals as I find experienced homes within our community to adopt. Thank you. -Braden
